Introducing the Charterpath Non-profit Financial Health Check

As part of our ongoing mission to significantly increase the level of volunteering among professionals with financial skills, Charterpath is excited to introduce the latest addition to our free offerings for non-profits and finance professionals: the Charterpath Non-profit Financial Health Check. This unique tool is designed to help non-profits secure the financial resilience of their organisation and sustainably deliver on their mission!

 

Built specifically for charities, community groups and NGOs - the Charterpath Non-profit Financial Health Check is a comprehensive framework designed to empower non-profits globally to sustainably deliver their mission through impartial and actionable insights into their financial health.

The Charterpath Financial Health Check is a framework focused on four foundational pillars essential to non-profits in delivering their vision and mission and consists of:


  • Pillar 1: Financial strategy and management - embedding a financial strategy and sound financial management practices as a fundamental building block to the sustainability of the non-profit.

  • Pillar 2: Governance and reporting - implementing robust governance and accurate reporting to not only keep the finances on track but also build trust with donors and other key stakeholders.

  • Pillar 3: Risk awareness and mitigation - establishing a culture of risk awareness and proportionate risk mitigation to safeguard the effective functioning of any organisation and to ensure its financial health.

  • Pillar 4: Financial skills and resources - underpinning all of these is onboarding appropriate financial skills and resources to to improve the financial health of the non-profit in these areas and sustainably deliver it's mission.

The Charterpath Non-profit Financial Health Check is structured around a simple workflow which can be completed over a 2 day period either in person or remotely:


  • An initial self-assessment completed by the non-profit sharing a number of key deliverables;

  • A framework for an experienced finance professional to review the information provided, applying their existing skills and experience to produce quantitative and qualitative insights;

  • A report by the finance professional presenting their findings with any areas for improvement and signposting to follow-up training and tools.


And it has been designed with input from finance professionals who already volunteer and non-profits who have previously accessed volunteer finance skills - with benefits for all parties:

Charterpath was co-founded by Alice Clementi and Alex Marsh, both chartered accountants with extensive volunteering and fundraising experience alongside their professional careers - with the goal to  increase the proportion of professionals with financial skills volunteering from 10% to 50%.
