Corporate membership: making finance skills count

Charterpath is on a mission to help charities across the UK maximise their impact by accessing the financial expertise they need to thrive.

We do that by inspiring more finance professionals to volunteer their skills, connecting them with charities that need their support, and helping them build the knowledge, confidence and capability to be effective in their roles.

We know we can’t do this alone.

Finance volunteers need more than opportunities to volunteer. They need practical support to get started and to keep developing - whether that is the latest charity finance guidance, advice from experts working in the sector, or insight into new tools and technology. Much of that knowledge can be just as useful in their day jobs too.

That’s why we work with organisations that share our ambitions and can bring useful expertise, ideas and opportunities into the Charterpath community.

Corporate Membership gives those organisations a way to become active partners in our work - contributing to a powerful social mission while also developing their people, building their profile and creating meaningful connections across the finance and charity sectors.

We are looking to build a diverse group of Corporate Members who can bring something genuinely valuable to our community and help us make finance skills count.

What does Corporate Membership involve?

We want our Corporate Members to be active partners in the Charterpath community. Membership gives your organisation opportunities throughout the year to engage with finance professionals and charity leaders through:

  • social media promotion

  • blog and thought-leadership opportunities

  • visibility in Charterpath's newsletter, website and other materials

  • a Charterpath Volunteer Roadshow for their team

  • co-curated events, webinars or roundtables; and

  • opportunities to collaborate on research, campaigns and other initiatives

We want partnerships to be active, useful and relevant for our community.

An accountancy firm might share technical charity finance expertise. A technology provider might introduce tools that save finance professionals time. A training organisation might help our community build new skills.

The most important is that we are aligned in our objectives to support finance volunteers.

Why partner with Charterpath?

One investment. Three returns.

1. Develop your people

Skills-based volunteering is far more than the so-called 'giving-back'. It can be a powerful form of professional development. It gives finance professionals opportunities to step outside their usual roles, take on new responsibilities and apply their skills in very different environments.

A volunteer might find themselves advising a Board, helping shape strategy, leading a finance committee, implementing a new system or explaining financial information to people without a finance background. That can help build leadership, communication, strategic thinking, confidence and broader commercial judgement - experience which employees bring back into the workplace.

Volunteering can also provide purpose, perspective and new professional networks, while giving employees the satisfaction of seeing their skills make a tangible difference.

Our Charterpath Volunteer Roadshows help your teams understand these benefits, explore the different ways they can volunteer and give them the confidence to get started. More than 90% of Roadshow attendees say they are inspired to explore skills-based volunteering afterwards.

2. Build your profile

Corporate Membership connects your organisation with an engaged and highly relevant audience of finance professionals and charity leaders.

The Charterpath network includes:

  • +3,500 finance professionals

  • +500 charities, schools and community organisations

  • over 1,600 newsletter subscribers, with an average open rate of c.48%

  • +20,000 combined social reach across Charterpath and our co-founders’ networks

Through social content, blogs, newsletters, shared events and thought leadership, you can showcase your expertise, share useful ideas and build relationships with the people in our network.

3. Create social impact

Your membership directly supports Charterpath’s work to get more financial skills into the charity sector.

Small charities often operate without access to the financial expertise that larger organisations take for granted. Yet relatively small amounts of skilled volunteer time can make a significant difference - improving financial oversight, strengthening governance and freeing charity leaders to focus on their mission.

By supporting Charterpath, you help us inspire more finance professionals to volunteer, give them the tools and confidence to be effective, and connect more charities with the skills they need.

The impact multiplies too. Once someone starts volunteering their financial skills, they may go on to support several different charities throughout their career.

Could your organisation be a Corporate Member?

We work best with organisations that have something useful to offer finance professionals, charities - or ideally both.

Our members and partners span areas including accountancy and advisory, technology, recruitment, training and professional services, and we are keen to continue building a diverse community of expertise around Charterpath.

If you share our ambition to make finance skills count, we would love to explore what we could achieve together.
