Who said accountants were boring? Accountex London 2025 reminded us otherwise!
Last week Accountex reminded me just how exciting, inspiring and ground-breaking accounting and finance can be. A jam packed Excel centre filled with hundreds of exhibitors and more than ten thousand visitors talking everything from software to sustainability, AI to ambition.
For Alex and I it was probably one of the most uplifting few days since we started Charterpath. As the Accountex official charity partner we got a chance to promote the joys of volunteering on a platform we had only dreamt of. Thank you to all those who came to our stand, who watched us speak on the Future Leaders stage and signed up as volunteers. We are so grateful.
We left brimming with optimism and excited about following up on the many conversations we had with potential parters interested in supporting our mission and harnessing the benefits of volunteering for their teams / customers / communities including: Xero, IRIS Software Group Intuit QuickBooks Sage Foundation AAT The Institute of Financial Accountants Association of International Accountants (AIA) ICB UK (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers) and Accountancy Age
A few personal highlights:
⭐ Rachel Harris - a real-life Wonder Woman building a kick-ass accountancy business against all the odds, bringing financial knowledge to the masses on the this morning sofa and even setting up her own bursary programme to help others follow her lead. Can’t wait to share more about her story as the best bit is - she is also an advocate of volunteering !!
🎩 MARK LEE FCA - an Accountex regular, master class presenter and even Magic Circle Treasurer - someone who has seen it all but willing to spend time helping the rest of us rookies with everything from fundraising to speaking advice
⏰ Paul Holbrook - a time and efficiency guru helping give everyone a day back with his Diary Detox® - here’s hoping I can put his tips into practice 🙏
To Caroline Hobden and the Accountex team - thank you for making it happen and putting on such a great show!
And last but not least big thank you to Laura Walker and Jon Yeung for helping us man the stand as amazing ambassadors and perfecting the Charterpath pitch and to Matt Gould / Integral London for the brilliant design! Couldn’t have done it without you all 💚
