About the role
To enable and support our Council of Trustees in this, the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee (FARCom) oversees all financial aspects of WWT. It aims to ensure short and long term viability, advises Council on future financial strategy, and reviews organisational risks.
FARCom includes trustees and up to four co-opted members. Your role as a co-opted member, is to bring relevant specialist knowledge and experience to ensure the committee as a whole can carry out it’s duties and report to, and advise, Council effectively.
Volunteers play a crucial role in saving wetlands for wildlife and people.
This role involves:
The Committee has oversight of the following aspects of the Charity’s activities:
• Responsible management of the finances for the benefit of delivering on the Charity’s objectives, now and in future
• Financial strategy and performance
• Accountancy and Financial Controls
• Annual Budget preparation
• Annual Trustees’ Report and Accounts preparation and review • Investment policy and Investment Management review
• Reserves policy review and compliance
• Management of restricted and unrestricted Funds
• Pension Scheme review
• Regulatory compliance
• Risk management, including Information Technology risk and Health and Safety
The initial term of appointment is 3 years, renewable by agreement to a maximum of 2 terms.
Our ideal candidate
This role might suit you if you have:
• A relevant qualification - Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), or relevant experience in accountancy, risk management, investment management or legal affairs
• Experience with organisations operating in the areas of visitor attraction, conservation or large multi-year restricted purpose projects • Experience of working with a complex organisation at a senior and strategic level
• An understanding of organisational governance processes.
• A collaborative, communicative and respectful approach to working and decision making
• Empathy with the Charity's mission and values
