About the organisation
We are a tiny voluntary organisation, formed in response to the Ukraine invasion. In partnership with Harrop HR Missions Ltd and a number of volunteers, we have put together a website to support Ukranian refugees in the UK and for those helping and hosting them.
The information on the website aims to cover common questions and concerns for Ukranian refugees building a new life in the UK - in relation to work, self-assessment tax returns and self-employment / business support. The aim is to help these individuals understand our systems in the UK - what to do / not do and where to go for help. As well as providing links to official guidance, we provide detailed explanations and signposting given many ‘standard’ processes have to be adapted and online guidance isn’t always reflective of this. We also reference businesses and private organisations which can provide extra support.
About the role
We are looking for a review of our website content, notably in relation to self-employment and tax advice. This content has been developed based on government guidance and conversations with HMRC, however we would like it to be reviewed by a volunteer with financial expertise to ensure it is reliable and accurate. We envisage an initial phone call and review of existing content (around 5 or 6 pages, can be done offline) and then a meeting to discuss feedback. This may involve a few follow-up questions or meetings.
Our ideal candidate
We are looking for someone who is interested in helping Ukrainian refugees. We expect them to have with good knowledge of basics such as pensions, contract and agency working, PAYE and self-assessment tax, self-employment, possibly small business setup, and ideally someone with knowledge of double taxation treaties and foreign income.
If we can find a volunteer who is interested in helping us to build out even more content that would be beneficial, but not essential.
