About the organisation
The Exchange was founded in 2019 on the idea that making and creativity can rebuild both communities and confidence. To revive the lost crafts of ceramics, carpentry, textiles, printmaking and horticulture we offer people the chance to learn, create, contribute and connect for free in a beautiful former Carnegie Library and award-winning garden. The Exchange’s model blends learning, volunteering, craft and commerce: our shop and café sell many of these items, with proceeds reinvested into community program and building upkeep. We are reliant on fundraising, donors and subscriptions. We are a membership-led, charitable Community Benefit Society.
