SV2 - Supporting Victims of Sexual Violence Ltd is a specialist charity providing support to people affected by sexual violence and abuse. We work with children, young people and adults across Derbyshire, helping survivors access the support, information and advocacy they need to recover, rebuild confidence and move forward with their lives.

Our mission is to support, empower, inform and protect people affected by sexual violence, ensuring that every survivor is listened to, believed and able to access high-quality specialist support when they need it.
What We Do
SV2 delivers a range of specialist services designed to reduce the impact of sexual violence and improve outcomes for survivors, including:
Independent Sexual Violence Advocacy (ISVA) services.
Emotional and practical support for survivors and their families.
Support for children and young people affected by sexual violence.
Prevention, education and awareness programmes.
Training and consultancy for professionals and organisations.
Partnership working with statutory, health, criminal justice and voluntary sector agencies.
Why We Do It
Sexual violence can have a profound and long-lasting impact on an individual's physical health, mental wellbeing, relationships, education, employment and sense of safety. Many survivors face significant barriers to seeking help, including fear, shame, stigma and trauma.
SV2 exists because everyone has the right to live free from sexual violence and to access compassionate, specialist support when abuse occurs. We believe that survivors should not have to navigate recovery alone. Through timely intervention, advocacy and support, we help individuals regain control of their lives, make informed choices and achieve better outcomes.

About the role
SV2 is a registered charity (No. 1103009) dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual abuse. We are seeking a committed individual to join our Board of Trustees as a Treasurer to provide strategic leadership and ensure the charity continues to deliver its vital mission with integrity and impact.
Who We Are Looking For:
We are seeking a strategic thinkers with strong analytical skills and the ability to offer constructive challenge with expertise in Finance & Accountancy (to serve as Charity Treasurer), qualification by experience is allowable.
What You Will Do:
As a Trustee, you hold ultimate legal responsibility for SV2’s governance. You will work alongside fellow Board members to:
• Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Safeguard the charity’s assets and ensure we comply with charity law, our governing document, and other relevant legislation.
• Set Strategic Direction: Guide the delivery of our strategy, making informed decisions that ensure the charity carries out its purpose for the public benefit.
• Provide Financial Oversight: Act as a prudent steward of the charity’s resources, ensuring financial stability and effective risk management.
• Uphold Values: Act as an ambassador for SV2, role-modelling our core values: Inform, Support, Protect, and Empower.
Trustees have a vital role in the strategic direction and governance of SV2 and we value the skills and experience that our current board brings. Working directly with CEO Rachel Morris and the management team, they are the final strategic decision makers - setting direction and providing scrutiny and support. They also ensure that appropriate financial, risk management and data protection controls are in place In addition, their role is to ensure: • SV2 values are core to all decision making • Clients are at the centre of all the charity does • The organisation’s vision is clear and implemented • High standards are maintained and foster an ethical culture Currently trustees meet 6 times a year for 2hrs preferably in person, though joining online is available. These usually take place at 5pm on the first Tuesday of every other month.
Our ideal candidate
We are looking for an individual who can combine strong financial expertise with a commitment to SV2's mission of supporting and empowering victims and survivors of sexual violence.
Skills
Financial management, accounting, auditing or business finance expertise.
- Ability to understand, interpret and explain financial information to non-financial colleagues.
- Strategic thinking, with the ability to look beyond day-to-day finances and consider long-term sustainability.
- Good analytical skills and the confidence to provide constructive challenge and independent scrutiny.
- Sound judgement in assessing risk, financial performance and organisational resilience.
Experience
Professional experience in finance, accountancy, banking, business management or a related field.
- Experience of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting or financial controls.
- An understanding of governance responsibilities, ideally through previous board, trustee or committee experience, although first-time trustees with strong financial expertise are welcome.
- Appreciation of the challenges and opportunities facing charities, public sector organisations or purpose-led organisations.
