About the organisation

SCIP is an arts charity dedicated to breaking down the barriers which stop people from accessing the arts in our community. 


We do this by providing workshops,exhibitions and events from our home The Crypt Gallery in Seaford. 


Our team is passionate about visual arts, and believe art can be a powerful tool to support individuals' wellbeing and bring together entire communities.

About the role

The Treasurer will be responsible for suppoprting SCIP to achieve the charity's mission, whilst safeguarding the charity and the board. Tasks specific to the Treasurer role include:

  • Making sure the charity keeps proper accounts

  • Reviewing the charity's financial performance

  • Drawing up or reviewing existing policies for finance and investment

  • Ensuring the charity has robust and effective financial controls in place

  • Liaising with finance staff and with the charity's independant examiner or auditor

  • Reporting finacial matters to the board

  • Supporting senior staff with financial forcasting and short and long term budgeting and aims as well as strategy

This is in addition to the standard responsibilities of all Trustees.

 

Initially there will be a commitment of 3 days per month which will reduce as new systems are embedded and the board expanded.

Our ideal candidate

SCIP are focused on working with people who share our vision and values. We welcome and encourage applicants from people with diverse backgrounds.  The ability to relate well to all levels of the team along with good negotiation and problem-solving skills is essential.

 

Our ideal candidate will have knowledge of charity financial regulations and a broad knowledge/experience of accounting and finance/tax regulations, legislation and best practices.

Our SCIP Youth engagement programe provides an inclusive environment for creative expression and adult workshops offer opportunities to develop new skills. Through your work as a Treasurer Trustee you will be helping us to deliver and expand our current offering.

 

We are small but fast growing charity in need of support to strengthen and develop our financial proceedures - your knowledge and experience will be an asset to the charity. 


Whilst this is an unpaid role - expenses will be re-imbursed and any training will be provided by SCIP.
