About the organisation

The Strawberry Hill Trust was set up to underatke the restoration of one of the country's most important 18th Century houses, the home of Horace Walpole, a man of letters and wide interest in the arts. Following the successful completion of the restoration the Trust operates the House with a mission to maintain, research and interpret the House as a global centre for the preservation and appreciation of the gothic imagination in art, architecture, literature, landscape and collecting.

About the role

The Honorary Treasurer will be the lead trustee in respect of financial management, planning and forecasting for the Trust. Working closely with the House Director, Finance Manager and other trustees and will be chair of the Finance sub committee reporting to the main baord, making recommendations on all aspects of the financial health of the Trust. The role will oversee the production of statutory accounts and where necessary liaise with external bodies in respect of financial matters. The ability to attend meetings in person at the House is required.

Our ideal candidate

We are looking for someone with in depth experience of financial management, accounting and strategic decision making who can also provide hands-on asistance for the House finance team. Experience in the charity and or arts/museum sector would be useful but not essential. The role would suit someone with experience in commercial or professional practice or managing and leading a small to medium sized enterprise.
