About the organisation

Formed by social housing tenants we exist for "the relief of poverty, the furtherance of education and the pursuit of racial harmony". Over 30 years we have successfully worked with local people, voluntary and statutory partners to improve life outcomes for our community and the wider area in which we live or work. We have a unique and best practice open door policy that brings people together and achieves fantastic results for the most deprived and our community as a whole. We benefit from substantial and long term unrestricted core funding, but need an innovative and rigorous volunteer with financial experience to help us grow and secure our future.

About the role

Act as the voluntary finance lead across all of the work of the Trust ensuring that proper accounting records are kept and resources are controlled and spent in line with governance, legal and regulatory requirements - Supervise accounting function and processing of payments and receipts on Quickbooks; - Prepare Quarterly Financial Forecasts; - Prepare Year end Accounts; - Liaise with Auditors; - Contribute to the Board’s decision making, giving strategic direction - As required act as an ambassador for the charity; - Oversee planning/budgeting processes and constructively challenge where required; - Contribute to fund raising strategies and activities

Our ideal candidate

Able to prepare the charity's books for outside accountants scrutiny for end of year accounts. Familiarity with relevant current accounting regulatory guidance. Commitment to our objectives and approach. Ability to llead on the prodution of finance papers and reports on key issues to the Board (c. Quarterly meetings) Able to attend board mtgs via zoom or in person Able to visit the Community Centre for 2/3 hours in c. every 2-3 weeks
