About the organisation
Soul Kitchen's purpose is to enable people to move away from life on the streets. We want to create a positive future for those experiencing homelessness and hardship. As an organisation we are inclusive, nonjudgemental and caring, we demonstrate mutual trust and respect, and we provide dignified upport to those in need.
We provide a weekly open Drop In where we supply hot meals, toiletries and clothing, and offer some respite from life on the streets. We offer a safe space and a sense of community to all who attend.
We provide emergency food parcels to those in need. We support those in temporary accommodation with emergency food and clothing parcels and support them when they move into permanent accommodation.
We also currently offer 4 cooking groups each week ( two in Ellesmere Port and two in Chester) where small groups learn cookery and numeracy skills, build self confidence and self esteem, and learn to work as part of a team. These sessions also allow us to build trust with those who attend, which in turn enables us to support them better.
We are looking to set up a social enterprise venture this year, based around cookery skills and the employment of those who have attended our 'Soul in a Bowl' cookery sessions.
