About the organisation

Our Treasurer plays a vital role in making sure that Salisbury Samaritans achieves its core purpose - our vision is that fewer people die by suicide. They oversee the branch financial management, working closely with our branch leadership and volunteers to achieve our mission.

About the role

Our new Treasurer would be responsible for the day to day financial activities of the branch (banking cheques, paying invoices and expenses, bank reconciliation etc). Additionally, they would need to reclaim Gift Aid, liaise with the investment company which handles our small investment portfolio, submit regular reports to the Branch Leadership Team and complete the year end (31 March) processes by liaising with external auditors

Our ideal candidate

We are looking for someone willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board. We will provide a full induction.

  • Numerate with good attention to detail
  • Financial acumen and understanding

Our Treasurer does not need to be a listening volunteer, but an empathy to that role would be helpful.

What’s in it for you

We are trained to provide emotional support to our callers, but we are not trained in finances. We have been very fortunate to have our current Treasurer in post, but after a successful term they are stepping down. To provide the best possible 24-hour service, we need to ensure that volunteers are working in a safe and comfortable environment and our Treasurer is key in enabling this. Our callers are at he heart of what we do and we also provide out of pocket expenses, a great volunteer environment and connection..
