About the organisation
We are part of the largest counselling service in England and Wales and need a Trustee to take on the role of Treasurer, in order for us to develop our services in Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire.
We offer relationship counselling and psychosexual therapy to individuals, couples, families, children and young people. Most people experience times when difficulties seem hard to cope with. We help people overcome debilitating problems which may otherwise have long lasting effects on their lives and mental health. Our vital therapeutic relationship counselling services help people explore a way forward, work toward solutions and increase understanding of one another.
The waiting lists for non-crisis support within the NHS Healthy minds programme is over 4 years in our area, so we provide a much- needed service. However, we cannot keep up with demand either, so we need to grow. Can you help? Can you spare a few hours a month to support what we do by working with a varied team of trustees and colleagues to further develop the charity and its services.
About the role
The Treasurer will need to review the monthly accounts produced by our finance clerk and produce a Powerpoint presentation for the Trustees as our monthly meeting. In addition, we create a three year financial plan, annual budgets and half year forecasts through out the year.
Our ideal candidate
We are looking for someone who ideally has business or not for profit experience which would be particularly helpful for our charity. However, what is more important is a 'can do' attitude and ability to get involved. The Treasurer needs to have accountancy qualifications too.
Our trustees meet on the last Wednesday of the month in Worcester or by Zoom throughout the year to consider and review Relate Worcestershire's strategic direction and its business development plans. We need a person who can commit to attending these meetings and occasional other meetings such as the AGM.
What’s in it for you
You will be part of the Board of Trustees and in this role you will contribute to the strategic direction of the charity. Your input into regularly reviewing our services against the agreed business objectives will be vital to help our charity to further develop its reach into the local community.
