About the organisation

Mission Statement

* To maintain the community centre to the highest possible standard, ensuring it is viable, sustainable and suitable for use by everyone in the local community.

*To encourage and support the widest range of use by people of any age, race, sexual orientation, gender, religion, politics or with impairment - but with consideration given to neighbouring residents.

*The aim of the association is for the centre to be a valuable asset to the community; used according to the wishes and needs of the local community.

About the role

An opportunity to work a few hours as month providing a valuable community resource. The centre is run by a small group of volunteer local residents - we have no paid employees and just one self-employed cleaner paid monthly.

We do not organise events but maintain the building and garden to a high standard and it is fully booked by regular groups and one-off bookings. Financially income exceeds expenditure and we hold a strong balance sufficient for the future success of the association or emergencies, repairs and improvements. Full information on the building and our history is on our website www.redcatchcc.com.

The current treasurer wishes to relinquish the role after a long tenure but will remain on the committee providing any guidance if needed. The role requires a few hours per month for invoicing and expenditure payments; there are about 8 meetings a year when a short financial report is required, an annual report for the independent auditor for presentation at the AGM in March plus the annual return to the Charity Commission. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and ages, and it could particularly suit a retiree looking for a volunteering opportunity to continue using their knowledge and skills.

We are looking for -

Someone who can commit to a few hours every month. Formal qualifications or previous financial employment would be an asset but these are not essential however some financial experience/ skills are required. Ideally it would suit someone living in or close to South Bristol that could attend meetings held in Knowle but all administration could be dealt with remotely.

Our ideal candidate

Formal qualifications would be an asset but are not essential but some financial experience/skills are required and a committment to maintain accurate and sound accounts, submitting reports in a timely manner when required.

An understanding and acceptance of the legal requirements and responsibilities of trusteeship (there is no personal financial liability) and we do have an induction process to support you with this if you have no previous experience.

What’s in it for you

In return for your commitment you will have the opportunity to use your sills to help orovide a much value asset which enhances the lives of hundreds of people of all ages each week, creating a hub of activities for the community. We maintain a well run and legally compliant organisation which meets all statutory requirements, but we are a friendly informal group which would warmly welcome you onto the team. We meet about 8 times a year at the home of the chairman Chris (the centre is not available as it is too fully booked)! Recruitment is by informal interview at a meeting of the committee when we can get toknow you and you can find out more about us. You would be welcome to attend a couple of meetings to see if you enjoy working with us should the position be offered to you - with free tea and biscuits!

If you feel this opportunity might suit your skills and interests please apply by sending your details or as short CV to the chairman at cjdavies43@gmail.com. The closing date for applications is 30 November 2025
