About Reclaim The Frame
Reclaim The Frame is the UK's leading charity for gender equity in cinema.
Founded in 2003, we work to create a film culture where women and filmmakers of all marginalised genders can build sustainable careers, where audiences have greater access to diverse stories and perspectives, and where the screen industries are more equitable, inclusive and representative.
We believe that who gets to tell stories, whose stories are told, and who gets to experience them matters. Cinema has the power to shape culture, challenge perspectives and foster connection, but too many barriers still exist for filmmakers and audiences alike. We exist to help remove those barriers.
Our work spans talent development, audience engagement, advocacy and sector change. We support filmmakers through professional development programmes, mentoring, training and industry networks, helping them develop their careers and navigate an evolving screen industry. Alongside this, we work with distributors, exhibitors, festivals and cultural organisations to connect audiences with films by women and filmmakers of marginalised genders through nationwide cinema campaigns, special events and partnerships.
Beyond our public programmes, we work strategically with organisations across the UK and internationally to share research, develop practical resources and influence policy and practice. We convene conversations around equity and inclusion, undertake consultancy and training, and collaborate with partners across the film sector to help create more welcoming, accessible and inclusive environments for filmmakers, audiences and industry professionals.
As a registered charity, we combine grant funding, earned income and strategic partnerships to deliver our mission. We are governed by a committed Board of Trustees and supported by a small, ambitious team. Together, we work with hundreds of partners across the UK and internationally, delivering programmes that reach thousands of filmmakers, audiences and industry professionals every year.

About the role
Reclaim The Frame is seeking an experienced finance professional to join our Board of Trustees as Treasurer. This is an ongoing voluntary governance role and an opportunity to play a key part in shaping the strategic direction and long-term sustainability of one of the UK's leading film charities.
The Treasurer works closely with the Chair, Executive Director, Finance Officer and fellow Trustees to ensure the Board has appropriate financial oversight and can make informed strategic decisions. The role focuses on governance rather than day-to-day financial management. Operational finance is managed by the Executive Director and Finance Officer, with support from external accountants.
As Treasurer, you will:
Provide strategic oversight of the charity's financial health and long-term sustainability.
Review quarterly management accounts, annual budgets, cash flow and financial forecasts, highlighting any significant issues or risks to the Board.
Support the Board in overseeing financial planning, reserves and risk management.
Help ensure appropriate financial controls, policies and reporting are in place and that the charity meets its legal and regulatory responsibilities.
Review the annual statutory accounts and independent examination process, working with the Executive Team and external accountants.
Act as a bank signatory.
Chair finance-related discussions at Board meetings and any Finance Committee or finance-focused working group established by the Board.
Act as a constructive challenger and supportive sounding board to the Executive Director on financial and strategic matters.
Contribute fully to wider Board discussions and decision-making, recognising that all Trustees share collective responsibility for the governance and success of the charity.
The Treasurer is expected to attend monthly online Board meetings, which currently last around one hour, together with the Annual General Meeting and an annual planning day. Additional meetings may occasionally be required to review budgets, year-end accounts or other significant financial matters, but these are infrequent. The overall time commitment is approximately three to four hours per month.
This role would suit someone with a recognised accountancy qualification and/or significant senior financial management experience who is looking to use their expertise to support a purpose-driven organisation. Previous trustee experience is not essential. We welcome applications from finance professionals who are taking on their first board role as well as those with existing governance experience.
As Treasurer, you will help ensure Reclaim The Frame remains financially resilient and well governed, enabling the charity to continue supporting filmmakers, engaging audiences and driving meaningful change across the UK film sector.
Our ideal candidate
We're looking for someone who will bring strong financial expertise, sound judgement and a collaborative approach to the Board. While an interest in film or the arts is welcome, we are primarily seeking someone who is excited by our mission and motivated to use their professional skills to help strengthen an ambitious charity and support its long-term sustainability.
Previous trustee experience is not essential. We welcome applications from experienced board members and from finance professionals who are looking to take on their first trustee role. An effective induction and ongoing support will be provided.
Essential skills and qualities
A recognised accountancy qualification (such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) and/or significant senior financial management experience.
Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, financial reporting, governance and risk.
The ability to interpret financial information and present it clearly to colleagues with a range of financial knowledge and experience.
Strategic thinking, with the ability to look beyond day-to-day finances and contribute to the charity's long-term sustainability and development.
Good judgement, integrity and the confidence to provide constructive challenge while working collaboratively as part of a Board.
An understanding of the responsibilities of charity trustees, or a willingness to learn.
A commitment to high standards of governance, accountability and ethical leadership.
An interest in Reclaim The Frame's mission and a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
Desirable skills and qualities
Previous experience as a charity trustee, Treasurer or non-executive director.
Experience of charity finance, governance or the not-for-profit sector.
Experience supporting organisational growth, fundraising, business planning or financial strategy.
Knowledge of grant-funded organisations or organisations with mixed income models.
An interest in film, cinema, the creative industries or the wider cultural sector.
Lived experience or perspectives that are currently underrepresented on charity boards.

Whether you're an experienced trustee or taking on your first board role, you'll be supported throughout your tenure. You'll receive a full induction, work closely with the outgoing Treasurer during the handover period, and have the support of the Chair, Executive Director, Finance Officer and fellow Trustees.
The role also offers opportunities to broaden your professional network across the film, charity and cultural sectors. Through our programmes, partnerships and events, you'll develop relationships with leaders from across the UK screen industries, philanthropy and the wider arts sector, while contributing your expertise to an organisation recognised for its collaborative approach and sector-wide impact.
Most importantly, you'll be helping ensure that more filmmakers can tell their stories, more audiences can discover them, and the UK film sector becomes more equitable, inclusive and representative for future generations.
