About the organisation
Reach Volunteering are supporting POW Nottingham with their Treasurer recruitment.
POW Nottingham is a non-profit, voluntary organisation supporting the rights of sex workers and people at risk of exploitation. POW recognises the right of individual sex workers to self-determination, including the right to remain in or leave sex work. Its work is centred on empowering a diverse community and tackling violence and stigma through education, advocacy and multi-agency working.
POW provides a range of health and wellbeing services through drop-in and outreach provision for people involved in, wishing to leave, or at risk of becoming involved in sex work. This includes facilitating satellite clinics offering substance use, sexual health and wider health and wellbeing support. Alongside direct services, POW works to influence wider societal change through advocacy, training and public awareness, helping local and national communities better understand and respond to issues around sex work and sexual exploitation.
POW is now entering an important period of renewal. Following the closure of its building and a pause in services last year, the organisation has successfully secured crucial Lottery funding and is preparing to reopen its building and restart services. This will involve completing essential building works, recruiting staff and ensuring appropriate training is in place.
The Treasurer will therefore join POW at a significant point in its development, helping to provide strong financial oversight and governance as the organisation rebuilds its services, strengthens its foundations and looks to the future.

You will ideally be a qualified accountant, or qualified through relevant experience, with strong organisational and problem-solving skills, sound judgement and an ability to balance strategic oversight with a practical, hands-on approach when required.
We are looking for someone who is collaborative, adaptable and confident working alongside fellow Trustees and the wider organisation. Experience of navigating complex organisational, funding or governance environments would be particularly valuable.
Just as importantly, you will share POW’s commitment to the rights of sex workers and people at risk of exploitation, and bring energy, commitment and a genuine belief in the importance of its work.
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
POW believes that diverse backgrounds, perspectives and lived experiences make the organisation stronger and more effective. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered, with intersecting identities recognised and represented at every level, including the Trustee Board.
We particularly welcome applications from people of colour, young people, LGBTQ+ individuals and people with lived experience of socio-economic inequality. We are looking for Trustees who share our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and will help embed these values across POW’s work.
We are committed to an accessible recruitment process and are happy to make reasonable adjustments to support applicants throughout the process.
