About us
We are a small charity based in Whitby with big ambitions! We run a lobster hatchery based in the old fish market on the main pier in Whitby.
The core purposes of the charity are
To protect and enhance marine biodiversity within the North Sea. By doing this, we will support sustainable fishing within the North Sea and promote marine conservation through research, education and conservation work.
Charitable Objects
· To help balance the marine life of the North Sea through research, education, and conservation work.
· To help protect the marine and fisheries heritage of Whitby through sustainable fishing practices.
This will be achieved through
· Monitoring and managing marine life across the North Sea, intervening with management programmes where required.
· Using research to deliver and influence policy.
About the role
We are seeking a treasurer who will be able to help us with the finances of our growing charity.
Our ideal candidate
We are looking for someone who will be able to oversee the accounts and work collaboratively with the manager of the Hatchery to ensure the smooth financial running of the charity. We work with many different stakeholders and recieve funds that are unrestricted and also funds that are ring-fenced for particular purposes. They will be expected to give a financial update at each trustee meeting, currently every two months. They will also be a signatory on the charity's bank account.
