About the organisation

Music for All is a passionate, focussed and ambitious charity dedicated to ensuring everyone has the opportunity to experience the joys and far-reaching benefits of making music. Our work involves providing free opportunities to Learn to Play, donating instruments, awarding cash grants to community based groups and disadvantaged individuals advocating for the benefits of music making.

About the role

We are looking for a finance professional with experience of charity/not-for-profit organisations to work with us on the first stage of developing our management information and benchmarking approach.

The successful individual will help us identify a practical set of financial and operational metrics that will enable us to better understand our performance and, where possible, benchmark ourselves against a relevant peer group.

  • Help identify a focused set of meaningful KPIs and performance metrics from our existing management and financial information and reporting.

  • Advise on appropriate benchmarks and potential peer groups for comparison.

  • Identify relevant external benchmarking data and sources.

  • Provide practical recommendations on how we can build this into our ongoing management reporting.

Our ideal candidate

  • Strong finance experience within a charity or not-for-profit organisation.
  • Good understanding of charity financial management and performance reporting.
  • Experience of developing KPIs, management information and/or benchmarking.
  • Ability to interpret data and turn it into clear, useful information for trustees and management.
  • Practical, collaborative approach, with the ability to work with a small organisation and make recommendations that are proportionate and achievable.

What’s in it for you

Although incorporated 30 years ago, we are a small charity looking to move to a level where we can measure ourselves against our peer group as we seek to grow our presence. This role will be key to assisting us to move to the next step where we can consolidate our position financially and ensure continued success in enabling everyone to enjoy the benefits of music.
