About the organisation
Move the World is a small female-led organisation that aims to develop the next generation of active citizens in Ghana. They work to improve the education of students in impoverished communities, helping them develop life skills including leadership, communication and teamwork. In the past year they have supported over 600 students.
About the role
A Treasurer — to oversee the management and reporting of Move The World’s finances:
Actively participate as a key member of the board of trustees - Lead development of the annual budget and future trajectories in line with the aspirations of the strategic plan and fundraising strategy
To advise on all financial matters, including regulatory compliance
To oversee the development and observation of financial policies
To keep the board of trustees regularly informed of key financial events, trends, concerns and assessment of fiscal health in addition to completing financial reporting in a timely fashion, making these reports available to the board within reason
To have oversight of all financial transactions including monitoring developed systems for keeping cash flow manageable and efficient
Advise fellow trustees on a regular basis of the financial status of the charity and where necessary recommend action
Support the arrangement, the compilation and agreement of Move The World’s annual report, including the annual review of accounts by the independent examiner
Act as an ambassador for Move The World, representing the charity at meetings and facilitating networking and funding opportunities as these arise
Our ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will have innovative ideas and sound financial knowledge, will be competent and experienced in handling finances (formal accountancy qualification preferred). The following traits are desirable but not essential:
An understanding of the voluntary sector and previous experience as a trustee
Knowledge and experience of international development
A West African background
