About the organisation

At Love Rowing, we believe rowing changes lives. It’s more than a sport — it’s a way to build confidence, connection, and community. Yet for too long, access to rowing has been limited to a small number of people. We’re here to change that.

As the Charitable Foundation of British Rowing, our mission is simple but powerful: to make rowing accessible to everyone, no matter their background, ability, or circumstance. We raise funds and support projects across the UK that break down barriers and open the sport to people who’ve never had the chance to experience it before.

Through our work, we help young people from disadvantaged communities discover teamwork, resilience, and self-belief. We enable people with disabilities to experience the freedom of being on the water and the joy of moving in unison with others. We also support clubs, schools, and community programmes that share our passion for inclusion and empowerment.

Since launching, we’ve supported more than 80 projects and reached over 12,000 people but the need continues to grow. We see the difference rowing makes every day: a young person finding new confidence at school; a disabled athlete discovering independence; a community club welcoming families who never thought rowing was “for them.”

Rowing teaches focus, teamwork, and perseverance, qualities that build stronger lives far beyond the boat. That’s why we do what we do: because everyone deserves the chance to feel that sense of pride, belonging, and possibility.

Every donation we receive, every project we fund, and every partnership we form helps create lasting change. Not just for individuals, but for communities across the UK.

We believe rowing should be a sport for all, a place where everyone can find their rhythm, their confidence, and their community.

About the role

The Honorary Treasurer plays a key role in ensuring Love Rowing’s financial integrity, sustainability, and growth. It’s a hands-on trustee position that combines strategic oversight with practical partnership.

Working closely with the Foundation Director, the Finance, Governance & Risk Sub-Committee and the British Rowing Finance team, you’ll review budgets, monitor performance, and advise on risk. You’ll ensure strong systems are in place, oversee annual accounts and audits, and keep trustees well-informed with clear, accessible financial reporting.

Your insight will help shape the charity’s future; from funding decisions and investment policies to the financial implications of our next phase of expansion. You’ll provide assurance that our resources are used wisely and that we remain compliant, efficient, and mission-focused.

This is a collaborative role, supported by British Rowing’s finance team and external advisors. You’ll also play a part in guiding our fundraising and governance strategy, ensuring we’re ready for growth.

Time commitment is realistic: quarterly online board meetings, a single in-person strategy day, and occasional event visits to see the impact of your work firsthand.

If you enjoy using your financial expertise to make a visible difference and want to be part of a small, vibrant team that’s passionate about inclusion and opportunity this is your chance.

Join us in shaping a future where rowing, and all the confidence and community it brings, is open to everyone.

Our ideal candidate

Our ideal candidate believes in the power of sport to change lives and wants to use their financial skills to help make that happen.

At Love Rowing, the Charitable Foundation of British Rowing, our mission is simple: to transform lives through rowing. We break down barriers so that more disabled people and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds can experience the joy and confidence that rowing brings.

You don’t need to be a rower, just someone who shares our belief in inclusion and opportunity. You’ll bring solid experience in finance, accounting, or business management, ideally with knowledge of charity or not-for-profit practice. You’ll be strategic yet practical, able to balance governance with empathy, and detail with the bigger picture.

You’ll understand how sound financial leadership builds trust, sustainability, and impact. You’ll bring clarity to the Board’s decisions, guiding us with both insight and good humour. And you’ll enjoy working closely with a small, passionate team, knowing that your advice helps us reach more communities across the UK.

We’re looking for someone who combines professionalism with purpose a person who sees beyond spreadsheets to the lives their work supports. If you value good governance, collaboration, and doing good through what you know best, then you’ll fit right in.

If you’re ready to use your expertise to help Love Rowing grow and thrive, we’d love to hear from you.

What’s in it for you

Becoming Love Rowing’s Honorary Treasurer is a chance to connect your professional expertise to something that truly matters.

You’ll help a national charity make rowing accessible to all, from young people in deprived areas to those with disabilities discovering the freedom of the water. Your financial oversight ensures every project is sustainable, transparent, and focused on real impact.

This role offers far more than governance. You’ll gain rich experience in charity leadership and strategy, broaden your understanding of social impact, and strengthen your non-executive profile. You’ll work alongside a friendly, capable Board and a dedicated Foundation Director, contributing to decisions that shape our growth and legacy.

It’s also deeply rewarding. You’ll see the tangible results of your contribution meeting project leaders, hearing stories of transformation, and knowing your work directly enables people to find confidence, community, and joy through rowing.

Meetings are quarterly and mostly online, with one in-person strategy day each year. It’s a meaningful commitment that fits around professional life while offering purpose, fulfilment, and connection.

If you want to use your skills for something that changes lives — and be part of a team that values integrity, inclusion, and heart - this is that opportunity.
