About the organisation

Love and Loss is a community-driven charity initiative supported by Islington Council, Arsenal FC, and Adidas’ No More Red campaign. Our mission is to raise awareness of the dangers of knife crime to youths and young adults, through community-based projects, in some of the high-crime boroughs of London. We provide mentorship to vulnerable young people that are exposed to violent crime, give them a space space to talk, and mentor them on finding opportunities to reach their goals. We also offer grief counselling and support to individuals and families who have suffered a bereavement due to knife or violent crime.

About the role

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the charity
  • Support in managing budgets for events and community projects
  • Record income and expenditure (including grants, donations, and sponsorships)
  • Reconcile bank statements and petty cash
  • Assist with preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports
  • Help ensure compliance with charity finance regulations and internal policies
  • Track and record Gift Aid donations and grant spending
  • Support preparation of annual accounts for submission to funders or the Charity Commission
  • Liaise with external partners, sponsors, and suppliers to process invoices and payments
  • Assist in developing simple financial systems and procedures for accountability

Our ideal candidate

  • Basic knowledge of accounting or bookkeeping (AAT, finance student, or similar background a plus)
  • Familiarity with Excel, Google Sheets, or accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, Xero)
  • Understanding of charity finance, fundraising, or community projects (desirable but not essential)
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Integrity, reliability, and a commitment to community impact

What’s in it for you

  • Valuable hands-on experience in charity finance and administration
  • The opportunity to make a real difference in your community
  • A professional reference and practical skills to boost your CV
  • Networking opportunities with partners such as Islington Council, Arsenal FC, and Adidas
  • Being part of a passionate, purpose-driven family/team making positive change
