About the organisation
Founded in 2005, the London Warriors is a registered charity using American football to transform young lives. Based in Croydon—one of London’s most diverse boroughs—we have supported over 3,500 young people across London, with more than 60% from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic backgrounds. We run five teams across youth, women’s, and men’s divisions, and have a strong track record of helping participants represent Great Britain, earn scholarships, and even reach the NFL.
Our mission is clear: empowering London’s youth to reach their potential and grow into responsible citizens through mentorship and the transformative power of American football. Through sport, we equip young people with vital life skills—such as leadership, emotional regulation, and accountability—helping them succeed academically and navigate away from negative pathways.
As we continue to grow, we are developing some exciting new projects to expand our impact and meet the evolving needs of young Londoners.
About the role
We are looking for a Financial Lead to take ownership of the charity’s financial operations and support the senior team in maintaining financial health and achieving long-term sustainability. This is a pivotal role, working closely with the Director, Board, and programme leads to ensure robust financial planning and insight across all aspects of the organisation.
Your responsibilities will include managing internal financial controls, overseeing risk, preparing reports for trustees and funders, and providing clear financial modelling to support grant proposals and major projects. You’ll also play an important role in day-to-day financial management, working with team leads to support budgeting and cost management across our programmes.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a purpose-driven environment, enjoys building processes, and is excited to shape the future of a fast-growing charity.
Our ideal candidate
We are looking for someone who brings both financial expertise and a passion for youth development. Our ideal candidate will have:
- A recognised accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Experience working on or alongside senior leadership teams, including non-finance stakeholders
- Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, and reporting
- The ability to assess the financial implications of strategic decisions and make clear, informed recommendations
- A commitment to the values and mission of the London Warriors
- Strong organisational skills, with a structured and proactive approach to work
Experience in the charity or youth sector is a bonus, but not essential—we’re most interested in someone who is values-driven and excited to contribute to a purposeful, high-impact organisation.
What’s in it for you
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in one of the UK’s most impactful youth charities and sporting organisations. As our Financial Lead, you’ll help shape our future at a critical time of growth and innovation—from launching a new youth academy to expanding our schools programme.
You’ll be part of a passionate, high-performing team that includes ex-player and broadcaster Vernon Kay, retired NFL player Marvin Allen, and British American Football Hall of Famer Tony Allen. You’ll see the real-world impact of your work by attending games, events, and community meetups—experiencing first-hand how finance enables life-changing opportunities for young people. You’ll also have the autonomy to strengthen and shape our financial systems, develop your skills, and contribute to a mission with real meaning.
