About the organisation
Our charity was founded in 2013, and it was hoped we would be around for a couple of years. 13 years later we are still serving the people of Leeds South & East and demand for our services is still growing.
In 23/24 we provided almost 17,000 food parcels and this helped to feed 6,500 children.
In the past two years the charity has had to spend more money purchasing food than in the previous 11 years. Food donations are down, as those people who have always tried to support us come under financial pressure themselves and demand continues to rise.
We have been fortunate that during the 13 years, we have had sound & professional financial guidance and advice which has meant that the charity has remained sustainable and we are currently in a good financial position.
The Trustee Board’s ambition and objective is to continue in a sustainable manner to protect the people we serve but also our amazing staff who work diligently to provide the service. And, to support the 120 volunteers who give up their time on a weekly basis in our foodbanks & warehouse.
We have recently lost our financial advisor due to family & work commitments, and we hope to be able to recruit someone who can join us and help to continue our work.
Our food bank(s) provides three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food to people in crisis, as well as support to help people resolve the challenges they’re facing.
• We currently have 10 Foodbank sites
• Over 100 people volunteer with us
• We have been helping the community since 2013
• In 23/24 we provided 16,935 food parcels
• This helped to feed 6,521 children
People are referred to our food bank by external agencies and professionals - like health visitors, social workers, or Citizens Advice staff - if they are in crisis.
When they are referred, they are issued with a food bank voucher. When they bring this to our food bank, they can receive a food bank parcel and compassionate, practical support.

What’s in it for you
Charity work is different from anything that I encountered in 45 years in business. The challenges are different, the pressures are different and the rewards are also different.
But rewards there are, as you enjoy meeting new ‘’colleagues’’, make new friends, encounter new challenges and all the while helping to provide a service that is helping people who are in dire circumstances.
Finance is a specialist skill that is vital to any organisation and in charitable work a board of trustees is not always gifted with this critical skill, therefore we hope that we can invite a suitable individual to join us in the challenging but rewarding work that we are involved in.
