About the role

Lanarkshire Carersis a well-established carer led organisation. We work with and for carers to develop and deliver services that make a positive difference to their lives. Lanarkshire Carers is a value-based organisation, and our mission is to ensure that carers in Lanarkshire are identified, engaged, well informed, involved, supported and empowered. The organisation employs a staff team to deliver information, advice and direct support services across Lanarkshire that enable unpaid carers to continue to care, whilst maintaining their own health and wellbeing.

 

Our ideal candidate

Board members at Lanarkshire Carers are responsible for the charity’s governance and strategy and are seeking to appoint a new Board Member with specialist knowledge and skills to assist and advise the board in overseeing finances, financial reporting and decision making.

The Board Member will work closely with the CEO, Treasurer, Finance Co-ordinator and Business Administrator and with other members of the staff team at Lanarkshire Carers.

Board Members attends Board of Director meetings, a minimum of four board meetings per annum in addition to the requirement for an annual general meeting. The time commitment is approximately 32 hours per year, and we also support board members through learning and development opportunities in relation to their role. The frequency of meetings is determined by the Board of Directors and dates planned in advance.

Board meetings will normally be in person at Lanarkshire Carers Centre: Hamilton, Princes gate, 60 Castle Street, Hamilton, ML3 6BU on a Wednesday morning however remote/digital meetings may occur.

We are commissioned by Health and Social Care North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership to provide Adult Carer Support Services to carers living in Lanarkshire and work in partnership with a range of organisations and services that can help carers.
