About the organisation
At Hospice Aid UK, we provide vital support to hospices across the UK, ensuring patients and families receive compassionate end-of-life care. To help our CEO focus fully on strategy and fundraising, we are seeking a volunteer Finance Manager to handle our day-to-day bookkeeping, establish clearer process controls, and strengthen our restricted fund accounting.
About the role
This flexible, home-based role is ideal for a retired accountant, qualified bookkeeper, or experienced finance professional who wants to use their skill set for local impact. You will maintain our core accounting records, improve our spreadsheet tracking, and ensure transparent accounting for restricted grants and trust donations.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-Day Bookkeeping: Record invoices, monitor income, and maintain accurate expenditure records in Excel from home.
Restricted Fund Tracking: Build and manage clear spreadsheet systems to track restricted donations and trust grants, ensuring income and spending are visibly matched for funder reporting.
Process & Controls Advisory: Review existing accounting processes and suggest practical improvements to internal controls, digital/physical filing systems, and handoff procedures for our end-of-year accountant.
Financial Summaries: Collate concise monthly or quarterly expenditure reports to assist the CEO and board with financial oversight.
