About the organisation

Good Vibrations changes lives through communal music-making.

Our expert team of facilitators support participants to grow in confidence, deepen their communication and social skills, and develop more positive self-identities. Our impacts are shown through numerous academic studies.

We work primarily in the criminal justice sector, as well as secure-healthcare and community settings. Our workshops are delivered with the use of the Gamelan, an Indonesian percussive orchestra which is highly accessible.

About the role

As a trustee of good vibrations, you will provide your skillset on a quarterly basis at board meetings, considering and setting strategic direction for the staff team to achieve.

We also encourage trustees to attend at least one 'play through' a year, where you can see the culmination of a week of work from our participants at a performance.

In a typical year there will generally be other projects to get involved with, working with other trustees, the staff team and facilitators. We also have a quarterly finance committee which sits in advance of board meetings.

Our ideal candidate

We are seeking an accountant with strategic experience in their professional life, who can contribute at a wide level as a trustee. This is to reinforce the financial expertise on the board only, and will require no operational support!

Those with an interest in the arts or criminal justice will find themselves a natural match for Good Vibrations, but this is not essential.

What’s in it for you

Good Vibrations projects have such a tangible impact on participants. Getting to be part of the organisation that delivers these is a fantastic way to put skills towards this fantastic impact.

Sitting as a trustee provides a wealth of experience at a strategic level also, stretching individuals to understand a full spectrum; from psychological research, to financial position, through to operational realities of providing music based services in a wealth of environments.
