About the role
The Treasurer is a key member of the Board, participating in the Board Executive committee and working closely with fellow trustees and Evolve employees to oversee the charity's financial health and governance.
This is more than a voluntary trustee role—it's an opportunity to use your financial expertise to help a thriving charity grow, innovate and bring the transformative power of music to more people and communities.
In the role, you will:
- support the Board in overseeing the charity's financial affairs
- help ensure that financial resources are managed responsibly and in line with charity regulations
- review and present management accounts, budgets and financial reports
- work with staff and trustees on financial planning and sustainability
- help the Board understand its financial responsibilities and decision-making
- support the preparation and presentation of annual accounts.
The time commitment is the equivalent of around 10 days a year, including time reviewing the managing accounts
The Board meets up to six times a year.
- Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting are generally online in the evening
- We also have an in-person annual planning or development day once a year.
The Treasurer is also part of the Board executive committee which meets online in between Board meetings.
Trustees may also occasionally represent Evolve Music at events, performances and networking opportunities.
Our ideal candidate
We’re looking for someone with skills in:
- Accountancy, bookkeeping or financial management
- Charity finance and governance
- Budgeting and financial planning
- Risk management and internal controls
A recognised accounting qualification would beneficial but is not essential.
