About the organisation
Our aim is to make a significant difference in the number of homeless in Cornwall, providing them with relatively long term accommodation in association with a work opportunity involved in the present social enterprise, which is currently a tree nursery on 25 acre site at Trewoon, just outside St Austell.
About the role
The role responsibility is to ensure there is experienced financial competence overseeing the proper conduct of the charity's finances. There is a very low frequency of transactions.
We urgently need someone to take over from our current trustee with financial responsibility who is keen to step down as soon as possible for personal reasons. It could be just on an interim basis but if ongoing support, involvement and financials coverag, that would be a very welcome bonus!
All the role activities can be carried out remotely including quarterly board meetings but occasional attendance in person would be great. As yet there is no finance committee, and no other responsibilities such as chair or sub-committees associated with taking on this role.
We are looking for someone to lead us in discharging the duty of proper accounting and financial conduct, and ensuring proper accounting records are kept, as well as overseeing the planning and budgeting processes.
Our ideal candidate
It would be great to have someone join us with some financial experience, qualification and expertise who would work with us as part of our team, and help advise in the various ways that can make all aspects of our finances more readily manageable, as well as guidance in respect of budgets and financial planning.
If they are also passionate about helping to alleviate some of the pressing issues related to homelessness in Cornwall, that would be wonderful.
