We operate across three sites in Doncaster and work with key local partners who make referrals to our service. In addition our core food parcel service, we are a hub for people to receive additional advice and support, including around their mental health and wellbeing. We are committed to looking after vulnerable people in need in our community, as well as advocating for them and against the effects of poverty in our city and the UK more widely.

13 million people currently live below the poverty line in the UK. Every day people go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. In 2025, food banks in the Trussell network provided 2.6 million three-day emergency food supplies and support to UK people in crisis. Of these, 912,216 were distributed for children. Doncaster Foodbank currently has three staff working to fulfil its mission and is overseen by a small and committed board of Trustees with a wide range of skills and experience. We would love you to join us and lend us your knowledge and expertise.

If you are interested in hearing more about our work, you can contact the Chair of Trustees for an informal conversation and to ask any questions you might have. We would also be happy to hear from applicants who wish to undertake the duties of Treasurer without joining the charity as a Trustee.

About the role

We are looking for a Treasurer/Finance Trustee who can undertake key tasks in the areas of financial oversight, compliance and governance, and operational finance, as well as contributing to the strategic leadership of the organisation in this key role.

The Treasurer will oversee and report on the charity's financial health, ensuring it can meet financial obligations and achieve its strategic goals. They will work alongside colleagues and the charity's accountants to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and liaise with auditors. They will take an active role leading the board's conversations around risk and operational sustainability, and review current finance policies and internal controls. We also expect the Treasurer will want to look at the current systems of financial operation in place and consider how these can best be updated and streamlined.

Trustees currently support the Project Manager in researching and writing applications for grants and other sources of funding, and the Treasurer's input in this area will be welcomed. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates who understand current challenges for vulnerable people and for the voluntary and charity sectors. The Trustees are open to the potential for the Treasurer to work alongside a junior finance volunteer in future and would be interested to hear from candidates with experience of mentoring and coaching junior finance admin colleagues, although this is not currently part of the Treasurer's role.

The board of Trustees meets quarterly, and the Treasuer, along with the Chair, will contribute to the work of the charity between meetings to fulfil their role.
