The Zero Hour campaign for the Climate and Ecological Emergency (CEE) Bill is a largely voluntary, grassroots-led movement calling for bold, new UK legislation to restore nature, limit emissions in line with 1.5°C and give people a real say in the just transition to a zero carbon, nature positive future.
About the role
Key responsibilities include the following:
Preparation of the monthly management accounts and bank reconciliation.
Work closely with the individual who manages accounts payable and the banking relationships.
Responsible for monthly budgeting and forecasting including different fundraising scenarios.
Fund accounting: Monitoring and tracking expenses against restricted funds and preparing simple annual fund reporting packages for Funders.
Identify/recommend and support the implementation of process improvements specifically around AP, fund accounting and budgeting.
Provide guidance on governance and data security requirements around finance elements.
Managing the outsourced payroll process.
Monitor income to assess whether VAT threshold of Vatable income is reached each month.
Strong excel skills are required
Our ideal candidate
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated finance manager to join the team and lead the finance function. This role requires a leader who can work closely with the leadership team of the organization as well as being hands on in developing and actioning the monthly, annual and ad hoc finance requirements.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced accountant with strong excel skills who will have overall oversight of the finance function. They will be comfortable with maintaining monthly accounting records and providing advice on budgeting and forecasting.
