About the organisation

We are a small branch of the United Reformed Church (about 20 members) meeting for worship in a local primary school. We used to be a Local Ecumenical Partnership until other denominations decided to withdraw in 2022. Our aim is to provide worship opportunities and to spread the love of Christ in our immediate environment.

About the role

We need someone to be the independent examiner for our accounts for 2023. The accounts for 2023 are now ready for examination, but we could not find an examiner for 2022. There are about 150 transactions to be checked, with evidence available electronically.

The accounts should be examined in accordance with the Charity Commission's requirements and recommendations for small charities, although as a church we are excepted from registration. We would like to be able to present the examined accounts to an AGM planned for May 2023.

Our ideal candidate

Numerate and organised. Familiar with or willing to learn the requirements for a simple independent examination of accounts. Preferably based in or near Reading.

What’s in it for you
