About the organisation

We unlock a world of audio content for people living with sight loss. We do this by giving people free audio devices, apps and support. We help people directly and via referrals. We also work in partnership with other charities and organisations to ensure our help reaches those who need us.

In 2024 we launched a new transformation strategy. Our vision for the future is to be the ‘go to’ organisation for all things audio for people living with sight loss.

By building a deep-seated understanding of the audio needs of people living with sight loss, and by working in partnership with others, we will ensure we are getting the right support to those who need us.

Throughout this period of transformation, our mission, vision and values continue to drive everything we do.

Our mission

To provide audio solutions, services and support that enhance the lives of people living with sight loss.

Our vision

To be the ‘go to’ organisation for innovative, inclusive and trustworthy audio solutions and services.

About the role

We're looking for a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees at a genuinely exciting moment. British Wireless for the Blind Fund (BWBF) is transforming our services for people with sight loss, and we're in the middle of an ambitious rebrand to match.

We need a sharp financial mind to help us navigate the road ahead and build the foundations for long-term sustainability.

We want someone who will roll their sleeves up and actively shape our financial strategy alongside the Chief Executive and board, bringing rigour, challenge and sound judgement to some real financial challenges. This is a role for someone who gets energised by turning things around, not just maintaining the status quo.

Our ideal candidate

Someone with strong financial planning and charity financial strategy experience, a hands-on approach, and a genuine commitment to the charity's mission. You don't need a background in the sight loss sector, but you do need to care about what we do and be ready to make a real difference.

What’s in it for you

  • Leading on financial oversight and reporting to the board
  • Working closely with the CEO and Financial Controller to shape long-term financial planning
  • Providing strategic financial input as we grow, evolve and rebrand
  • Chairing the quarterly Finance Sub-Group
  • Supporting the year-end accounts and audit process
  • Helping us build a financially resilient organisation fit for the future
