We’re one transformational team that believes every vision-impaired veteran should be able to lead the life they choose. We help blind ex-Servicemen and women of every generation. Since 1915, we’ve provided support to tens of thousands of vision-impaired veterans.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our charity at a pivotal time in our 100-year history. We help ex-Servicemen men and women of every generation to rebuild their lives after sight loss through rehabilitation, training and practical and emotional support. We’re looking to recruit one or more Trustees with a background in finance to help us achieve our strategy.
We have a broad and inclusive Trustee board of highly skilled members and are looking for a new recruit who can bring fresh insight and knowledge. The Board has established a high level of trust with the senior leadership team and works collaboratively through the governance process.
With a new CEO at the helm from mid-April, we look forward to exciting times ahead as an organisation.
Responsibilities
As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in guiding the strategic direction of our organisation. You will help to ensure that we stay true to our mission and apply our resources in pursuance of our charitable objectives. Your input will be critical in providing thought and leadership and your expertise in finance will ensure that we continue to operate in a sustainable and responsible manner.
Our ideal candidate
We are looking for applicants who have significant experience of strategic financial leadership with a recognised accounting qualification and the ability to scrutinise and probe financial statements, reports and balance sheet information.
What’s in it for you
You will have experience of building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues to achieve organisational objectives, and you will be able to demonstrate strong experience of working at as senior leadership team or Board level.
We don’t mind if this your first Trustee role, but it is important that you genuinely care about the amazing work we do.
