About the organisation

We are a social circus dedicated to creating transformative experiences for marginalized children, particularly those who have faced adversity due to their circumstances, such as refugee children along the Thai-Burmese border and care-experienced children in the UK. Our mission is to harness the power of circus arts to foster resilience, creativity, and a sense of community among these vulnerable groups, providing an outlet for coping with trauma and uncertainty. Through engaging shows and workshops in circus skills like acrobatics, juggling, and clowning, we invite children to discover their potential, build confidence, and experience joy in a safe and nurturing environment. Our programs prioritize inclusivity and accessibility, adapting activities to cater to children of varying ages, backgrounds, and abilities, ensuring everyone has the chance to participate and promoting understanding and solidarity among them. By leveraging the universal nature of circus to transcend language barriers and cultural differences, we aim to empower these children, promote empathy and advocacy in the wider community, and ultimately build pathways to healing, resilience, and a brighter future for those who need it most, using art to inspire action and drive change, and creating a sense of belonging and connection that helps them navigate the challenges they face.

About the role

As we are newly registered this year we are looking for someone to support us getting on our feet with our financials and the responsibilities being registered now brings. We are looking for someone who can help and oversee the booking keeping and accounting or at least help us with getting our heads around all the details in this first year. It could be any amount of time from 1 hour per week to a couple of hours per month. Whatever is possible for you. We are a UK-registered charity that works in the UK and Thailand.

Our ideal candidate

We are seeking a dedicated volunteer bookeeper/accountant to assist our team in navigating the foundational stages of becoming a registered charity. Your expertise in bookkeeping, record management, and year-end filing will be invaluable as we establish our operations. Depending on your availability and interest, you can engage in our quarterly meetings or offer less frequent support; however, we do need consistent assistance throughout our inaugural year to ensure our compliance and growth. Your contribution will play a crucial role in our success.

What’s in it for you

If an accountant helps us, the candidate stands to gain valuable experience and skills by working closely with our organisation, enhancing their professional portfolio. They will have the opportunity to apply their accounting knowledge in a meaningful way, contributing to the financial stability and transparency of initiatives that support marginalised children. Additionally, the candidate can expand their professional network, build relationships with other professionals in the nonprofit sector, and demonstrate their commitment to social responsibility, which can be a significant asset for future career opportunities. Overall, this collaboration offers a unique chance to blend their expertise with impactful work, making a difference in the lives of those in need while also advancing their personal and professional growth.
