  • Empowerment (empowering those with ADHD and their families through provision of knowledge and practical support)

with a view to improving the lives of children and young people with ADHD and their families.

Our ethos

Underpinning everything we do are the values that the ADHD Embrace team of staff and volunteers embody:

  • Inclusive:  Everybody is welcome and we strive to make our offering accessible to all as a safe space and being non-judgement

  • Quality: Delivering services to a high standard and aiming to ensure the treatment and support for those with ADHD takes a holistic approach (health, education, family and community)

  • Collaborative: Working with parents and professionals and other local organisations to achieve positive outcomes for children and teens with ADHD and their families.

  • Commitment: Working together as a team to ensure that we deliver our mission.

About the role

Since becoming a registered Charity with the commission we have implemented an accounting system (Xero) and adopted succesful approaches to managing the finances of the organisation. We now need to support to evolve our operating practices, automating where possible, rationalising our operational practices and governance to take the pressure off the organisation and allow it to grow without hinderence.

We may well look for ongoing support but the initial requirement is for a 3 to 6 month engagement to help us define a new finance target operating model, prioritise and implement. This will require someone who is hands on and used to working with packages such as Xero.

The role will support both the Treasurer and an existing finance support person in ongoing weekly operational activity, monthly reporting as bwell as budget/forecast updates.

Our ideal candidate

  • Qualified accountant with good accounting experience with the ability to dive into a ledger and understand the accounting at a transactional level.

  • Non-profit experience would be great but not essential.

  • Very adept at use of Excel for automating wherever possible in the areas of reporting and finance management.

  • Xero experience ideal but other package exposure equally useful.

  • Technology savvy people who understand how finance/accounting fits into the world of ecommerce, payments and CRM systems would also be a huge plus.

  • Candidates based in or around Kingston or Richmond would be preferable.

What’s in it for you

  • Your involvement will help transform the organisation into its next stage of growth. We have big plans for the organisation and have grown/spread our funding base as a measure of our commitment to build a sustainable organisation fit to deliver extremely valuable services to the communities we serve.

  • You will develop skills in charity accounting, technical aspects of restricted and unrestricted funding including the impact of such differences to the decisions we are able to make.

  • You will develop enhanced skills in Xero accounting software and importantly its integration with 'the outside world'.

  • We will help you develop reporting skills where necessary.

  • You will gain first hand exposure to governance frameworks which are crucial to charities and more often than not being adopted in the profit making world.

  • Our trustees are drawn from a broad network including banking, financial services and care support services and who are open to networking and helping you broaden your network beyond the charity.

  • In short you will make a tremendous difference to how we position the charity going forward, have numerous opportunities to develop professionally and find networking opportunities beyond the realms of charities.
