Abbotshall Healthy Lifestyle Centre supports the local community by promoting physical and mental well-being through programmes, sports and activities for all ages. We especially provide a safe, welcoming space for children and young people to grow, build skills and develop healthy habits. Our centre offers the whole community a place to connect, learn and thrive. We aim to create the village that people dream of; a supportive environment where locals can gain confidence and foster lasting social connections.
About the role
As our Treasurer, you'll help shape the future of a charity that matters to its community. It's a strategic role on a supportive Board, where your judgement will directly influence what we achieve.
- Guide the Board on financial strategy, planning and long-term sustainability
- Present financial updates at Board meetings and help trustees understand their financial duties
- Monitor budgets, forecasts and cash flow
- Make sure strong financial controls are in place
- Oversee the annual accounts and keep us compliant with Charity Commission and Companies House requirements
- Offer insight and challenge on key decisions
- Support fundraising and income diversification
Our ideal candidate
- A commitment to supporting the charity's goals, long-term sustainability and community impact
- An interest in good governance and helping the charity remain financially resilient
- Finance, accounting or financial management experience
- An understanding of budgets, financial reporting and financial controls
- The ability to explain financial information to non-financial audiences
- Good judgement and a willingness to provide constructive challenge
- Previous charity trustee experience is welcome but not essential

The role also offers Board experience, with the impact of trustee decisions quickly reflected in community outcomes and the day-to-day operation of the Centre.
