Abbeyfield Silverdale Society is a member of the Abbeyfield group of charities providing supported housing and residential care to older people. Based in NW Lancashire and overlooking Morecambe Bay, the Society is currently going through a period of growth through merger and building development, which will extend its operations into supported housing as well as residential care. The Society's ethos is to be warm, open and friendly, with the community at the heart of what we do. We want our residents to get the most out of life, and residents are encouraged to live life to the full with our help and support. Our mission is to enhance the lives of our residents through high quality accommodation in a stimulating environment and to enjoy the sociability of communal meals and activities. Our wonderful team of staff are professionals and are very experienced at what they do, but they also care passionately about the residents that they work with.
About the role
Abbeyfield Silverdale Society is looking for new trustees, specifically with a finance background to strengthen the skill set of the board of trustees. The charity employs a Chief Executive Officer and has a strong management and administration team, with a total workforce of approximately 40 staff. The role of trustees at the Silverdale Society is largely around oversight and the development of strategy and they meet approximately 10 times per annum, generally in the evening for about 2-3 hours. This is an exciting time in the development of the Society.
Our ideal candidate
Applicants should have a strong financial background through either qualification or experience.
It would be desirable if the applicant has experience of the regulated social care sector and/or housing sector. Otherwise, candidates should be enthusiastic, forward looking and bring optimism and positivity in their approach to being a trustee. The Society pays business expenses to trustees
