About the organisation

Turner's House Trust is the registered charity responsible for Sandycombe Lodge, the house which J M W Turner designed and built in Twickenham, and in which he lived with his father. Following an extensive conservation and restoration project, the House opened to the public in 2017. It is one of the leading small cultural attractions in South West London; has attracted more than 37,000 visitors to date; and runs a programme of activities and events that reach out to local schools and the wider community. It aims to be a place of discovery, scholarship, and inspiration.

About the role

The Treasurer needs to ensure that the Board have in place appriate financial management- working closely with the Finance Manager (0.2 FTE); information (ie budgetary and bi-monthly financial reporting); frameworks (ie accounting procedures, controls and policies); controls and compliance (complying with all financial responsibilities); statutory records and accounts (HMRC, Charities Commission, Companies House); and audit oversight (dealing with the Independent Examiners).

A recognised accounting and finance qualification.

A successful track record of achievement in your career

Excellent communication skills

Experience of working at a senior professional level

Active interest in,and understanding of, the cultural and heritage sector

Excellent management skills

Tact, diplomacy and powers of persuasion
