Spring Community Hub is a crisis support charity offering holistic, wrap-around services to our local community. We provide Debt and Welfare Advice, Housing and Immigration Support, Training, Business Advice, Holiday and After-school Programs, Women’s Groups, a Food Bank, and a Social Supermarket. Translation services ensure everyone is welcomed and understood.

The mission of Spring Community Hub is that through a ‘Community Hub’ and full activity programme, local people in or at risk of crisis will be supported along their journey to move on and achieve full social, economic and emotional independence to live healthy lives in a community which supports each other

About the role
About the role / Role Purpose
As Finance Trustee/Chair of the Finance Committee, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the financial future of Spring Community Hub. You’ll lead on financial strategy and governance as we scale our services, aiming for sustainable growth and long-term impact. Your expertise will help us strengthen our financial processes, ensure real-time and accurate reporting, and identify new opportunities for investment and income diversification. You’ll guide us through a changing funding landscape, ensuring our charity remains robust, resilient, and ready to grow towards a £1 million+ turnover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Finance Committee, setting agendas and driving effective meetings
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, management accounts, and reporting
- Advise the Board on financial strategy, risks, and compliance
- Ensure robust financial controls, policies, and procedures are in place
- Support funding applications, grant management and Business Development
- Liaise with auditors and oversee annual accounts preparation
- Champion transparency and good governance
- Act as a sounding board for the CEO, Chair of Trustees and Senior Leadership team on financial matters
- Attend quarterly Board meetings and Finance Committee meetings (in-person or virtual)
- Quarterly Away Days ( In person )
- Occasional ad-hoc support by email/phone/in person
- Ad hoc Organisational Events /Celebrations/ Networking Opportunities/ Trainings)
- Attend / Contribute to Charity AGM / Formal meetings/ events
Our ideal candidate
Who We’re Looking For:
- Strong financial expertise (charity, commercial, or public sector)
- Proven experience improving financial processes and systems for scale
- Ability to deliver timely, accurate financial reporting and analysis
- Track record of supporting organisational growth and investment readiness
- Understanding of diverse funding sources (grants, contracts, trading, social investment, partnerships)
- Strategic mindset—able to spot opportunities and risks as we grow
- Experience ensuring financial sustainability and compliance in a changing environment
- Collaborative, clear communicator—able to build capacity and confidence across the Board and wider team
- Strongly sympathetic with the charity’s values, mission, vision and purpose. Good, independent judgment and preparedness to make unpopular recommendations to the rest of the Board.
