About the organisation
S.H.E UK is a Nottinghamshire based charity that supports adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, sexual violence and rape. Our aim is to improve the lives of survivors through a range of long-term, person-centred specialist services. We support all genders, aged 18 or over.
We know that the impact of this type of trauma is all encompassing, we refer to it as like 'shattering a mirror' as it impacts so many areas of a persons life - mentally, emotionally and sometimes physically, in relationships, academically and vocationally, Often survivors feel they are to blame and feel a sense of shame - we are here to replace that with understanding and self-compassion.
We offer a telephone support service for those waiting to start therapy, to provide coping strategies and signposting to address other life challenges; 1:1 evaluative needs therapy for up to 2 years; and a weekly peer group, where female survivors come togther undertake self-development courses and socialise - reducing isolation and buidling confidence,
We support survivors to address the past, cope in the present and envision a positive future.
