About the organisation
Our Streets Now (OSN) is a youth-led, grassroots and intersectional campaign to create a world in which everyone can feel safe and be safe in public space. Our aim is to end public sexual harassment (PSH), the set of sexually intimidating behaviours that 97% of young women have faced.
Where We Started
We began in April 2019 with a Change.org petition calling for a new law against street harassment. Within just 100 days, it reached over 100,000 signatures. In November 2023, we won our legal campaign with support from Plan UK and leading human rights lawyers and as of April 2026, Public Sexual Harassment is now a standalone criminal offence in England and Wales. Since then, we’ve increasingly focused on prevention, changing hearts, minds, and systems through education and long-term policy reform.
In 2025 we launched our three-year strategy, with bold plans to scale our impact across education, policy, and public life. It's an exciting time to join a leading organisation in the sector. We’re looking for a Finance Non-Executive Director to help guide us through this next stage, providing strategic financial oversight, ensuring we grow sustainably, and supporting our team as we expand our reach and impact across the UK.
What We Do
To achieve our vision of a world free from PSH for women and marginalised genders, we:
- Educate on the causes, impacts and solutions to public sexual harassment through our programmes in schools and sports.
- Raise the public profile of public sexual harassment, moving away from normalisation, shame and silencing, to drive community action.
- Campaign for stronger policies and legislation to tackle harassment, ensuring long-term systemic changes.
What We Have Achieved So Far
Since launching in 2019, our work has helped shift the national conversation, with the term we coined, ‘Public Sexual Harassment’, now used across government departments. We’ve delivered workshops to over 10,000 students, teachers and professionals, with the vast majority reporting increased confidence to challenge PSH, and been asked by local authorities, sports teams and workplaces to lead on work to make their communities safer.
