About the organisation

CasildART Contemporary CIC is a not-for-profit Black-led organisation founded to foster a more inclusive and supportive creative culture by addressing the lack of representation of Black artists in museums, commercial galleries, and fine art institutions. We aim to raise awareness and increase the visibility of their work, amplify their voices and give freedom to their creative expression.

Connection is at the heart of everything that we do. We aim to bring artworks together with the critical conversations that flourish through and around them, intersecting diverse themes, ideas, and cultures.

Our Mission

At CasildART, our work is centred around enacting change, transforming the UK artistic
landscape by inserting Black narratives into the visual culture.

  • Champion. Harnessing the power of representation, we represent Black British, Caribbean
and African artists to showcase the diversity of contemporary Black art. We aim to increase
awareness and visibility by providing a platform for artists to sell their work, creating
tangible opportunities for them to make a sustainable living from their practice.
  • Change. By celebrating and promoting Black art, we are building an ecosystem that will
make the UK’s visual culture a more inclusive, welcoming and equitable space. We
encourage dynamic discussions that draw people together, engaging in lively conversations
about the stories and experiences that unite us.
  • Connect.  We recognise the transformative power of art to move and inspire diverse
audiences. Our work with libraries, corporations and community organisations engages
and encourages participation in Black visual culture that excites and challenges audiences.
  • Nurture. We aim to inspire young people to pursue a career in the cultural sector,
increasing accessibility to the arts and fostering the belief that creative career pathways are
viable, profitable and rewarding. In turn, we are building a network of interconnected
creators including curators, writers and archivists to support and bolster Black creatives.

About the role

Volunteer Treasurer / Board Advisor

We are seeking a skilled Volunteer Treasurer / Board Advisor to support our Founder in managing cashflow, financial planning, and reporting. This pivotal role will help us scale responsibly following recent grant awards and prepare for future funding opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee budgets, cashflow, and financial reporting.
  • Establish robust systems and processes for accurate and timely reporting.
  • Liaise with our accountant and external auditors.
  • Advise on fundraising strategy, grant reporting, and financial planning.

Commitment:

  • Attend four Board meetings per year (three virtual, plus the AGM in person).
  • Provide ongoing strategic and practical financial guidance between meetings.

Requirements:

  • Experience in financial management, preferably within the non-profit sector.
  • Strong budgeting, cashflow, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to implement and maintain efficient financial systems.
  • Strategic mindset with excellent communication skills.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in guiding our organisation’s growth and sustainability.

Our ideal candidate

CasildART supports artists through exhibitions, programming, and courses. The ideal candidate would be who understands both the art world and the funding landscape, and who appreciates the role of art as a medium that can drive transformational change and inspire others. At the same time, we operate a hybrid model and value the commercial potential of artistic practice—our aim is to help artists make a sustainable living from their work.

Essential Skills and Qualities:

  • Strong financial management experience, ideally in the non-profit or arts sector.
  • Understanding of budgeting, cashflow, and financial reporting systems.
  • Ability to establish robust processes and implement best practices.
  • Strategic thinker, able to advise on scaling, fundraising, and long-term sustainability.
  • Appreciation of art as a transformative medium, with a commitment to supporting artists’ livelihoods.
  • Excellent communication and liaison skills, comfortable working with accountants, funders, and board members.

Desirable Skills and Qualities:

  • Knowledge of the funding landscape for arts organisations, including grants, corporate partnerships, and sponsorship.
  • Experience in hybrid or socially-engaged arts models that combine impact and commercial sustainability.
  • Networks within the corporate sector or potential funders who are interested in driving transformational change.
  • Experience supporting organisations to balance creative mission with financial viability.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to play a strategic and hands-on role in supporting both artistic impact and financial sustainability at CasildART.

What’s in it for you

The Volunteer Treasurer can make a direct and meaningful impact—helping artists thrive, enabling the organisation to scale, and contributing to programmes that inspire communities. They will also gain:

  • Hands-on experience in arts management
  • Opportunities to develop networks across the arts, corporate, and philanthropic sectors.
  • Involvement in innovative projects, exhibitions, and initiatives.
  • Access to gallery events, programming, and the annual AGM, connecting with artists, funders, and fellow board members.
  • VIP invitations to fairs including The London Art Fair, Frieze, and 1:54

This is an exciting opportunity for a financially experienced, strategic, and passionate individual to play a key role in supporting CasildART’s mission: to empower artists and ensure the artworldbecomes an inclusive sector for all.
