Build on Belief specialises in designing, implementing and running weekend services and an extensive online programme for people who are struggling with, or are in recovery from their substance use; namely drugs and alcohol.

About the role

The Role of Treasurer

The Treasurer is a key member of the Board of Trustees, providing oversight of the charity’s financial health and helping ensure strong financial governance.

Working closely with the Chair, CEO and Board, the Treasurer will support strategic decision-making by ensuring that trustees have clear and accurate financial information and that the charity operates with robust financial controls.

The Treasurer plays an important role in helping the Board balance ambition and growth with responsible financial stewardship.

Our ideal candidate

We are open to a variety of professional financial backgrounds and qualifications with, ideally, but not necessarily only, charities and including current registration with one of the professional bodies:

o Institute of Chartered Accountants E&W.

o Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

o Chartered Institute of Management Accountants

o CIPFA

The ideal candidate will bring:

Essential

o A professional background in finance with at least 5 years post-qualification in accounting, investment or financial management

o Experience of financial oversight, governance or strategic financial planning

o Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills

o The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial audiences

Desirable

o Experience of charity finance or working with non-profit organisations

o Experience supporting organisational growth and development

o Most importantly, we are looking for someone who shares our commitment to helping people recover from drug and alcohol problems.
